How and why has the internet moved from being the land of opportunity and freedom to becoming a forum for datacapitalism and surveillance? And how do we regain our privacy and freedom of expression in the future?
How free will free speech on the internet be in the future? How will "do good"-technology evolve?
This session will be a conversation about securing our social values in a digital age. How can learnings from the past help us build a better future?
With us will be Brad Templeton and host and anchor for the podcast Techtopia, Henrik Føhns.
Brad Templeton has a long history as an internet pionér. He was part of the early USENET, where open discussions took place back in the 1980'ies. How was very early out in the dotcom-era and since was part of the leadership of Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) fighting for basic human rights and freedom of speech on the internet.
As such the conversation will reach from the very beginnings of the digital age, up til current times and into the future.
To avoid going dystopian Brad will also crack a few jokes from the newsgroup rec.humor.funny, which he administered at the dawn of the internet.
