Nature and biodiversity is becoming increasingly important and business-relevant for companies – but how to begin and prioritize nature action without drowning in complexity? This webinar with WWF and Novo Nordisk provides an introduction to the science-based targets for nature, which is a methodology by the science-based targets network (SBTN) for how companies can map, prioritize, set targets and take action on nature and biodiversity.
Nature and biodiversity is becoming an increasingly important agenda for companies – and for good reason. The state of nature affects companies’ operating environment, risks and costs, and not least creates new business opportunities. Yet it can feel overwhelming to figure out where to start on the nature agenda and what actually makes sense for your organization.
With SBTN, companies gain a concrete framework that makes it easier to turn ambition into action. SBTN helps identify pressures and material nature priorities and set targets that make a difference – both for nature and for business.
In this webinar, WWF Denmark– a founding member of SBTN – will introduce the science-based targets for nature. You will be guided step-by-step on how to practically approach nature and biodiversity work, regardless of how far along you are in the process. You will also hear from Novo Nordisk about their experience completing SBTN Step 1 & 2 and submitting for validation.
Speakers:
Maja Jakobsen, Footprint Director, WWF Denmark
Maja leads WWF Denmark’s work with companies and major strategic partnerships. Her work focuses on WWF’s international efforts on nature-based solutions and on helping companies strengthen their climate and biodiversity initiatives – including through the development of ambitious collaborations across the private sector, public authorities, and civil society. With solid experience in strategic leadership, stakeholder management, and advisory services on sustainable transition, Maja drives efforts to create tangible results for nature and climate. During the webinar, she will share insights into WWF’s biodiversity work and how companies can use SBTN to take nature action.
Cath Tayleur, Associate Director at Novo Nordisk
Cath drives the integration of nature and biodiversity considerations into corporate strategy and decision making. She led the creation of Novo Nordisk’s Nature Roadmap and drives cross functional execution, helping translate emerging global frameworks into practical, actionable approaches for the business.
Luise Jochimsen, Biodiversity Stewardship Specialist, WWF Denmark
Luise supports companies and sectors in understanding their nature footprint and identifying where they can act to reduce their nature impacts, risks, and dependencies. In the webinar, she will explain how to use the SBTN methods and how you can get started on your nature journey taking inspiration from SBTN’s approach.
