We are building on years of great success in hydraulics for off-highway machines and managed to establish Danfoss as one of the largest company for frequency converters. Electrification of vehicles on land and on water is a natural evolution for us.
Career history
Jørgen M. Clausen is Chairman Emeritus of global group Danfoss A/S, which produces and sells an extensive range of products and solutions that address the increasing global need for food safety, modern infrastructure, efficient energy consumption, and the combating of climate change.
Danfoss provides energy-efficient technologies for air conditioning, heating, refrigeration, and motor controls, and is also one of the world’s leading suppliers of hydraulic components and electronic controls for vehicles used within the construction, agriculture, and road building industries.
Danfoss is a supplier of solutions for renewable energy, such as solar and wind power.
Jørgen M. Clausen graduated as M.Sc. Electrical Engineer in 1972 from the Technical University of Denmark in Copenhagen and as MBA in 1975 from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA.
He joined Danfoss A/S in 1981. In 1991 appointed President of the Mobile Hydraulics Division. From 1996 till 2008 he was President and CEO of Danfoss A/S. From 2009 to 2022 Chairman of Danfoss A/S.
Jørgen M. Clausen is former Chairman of Danish Energy Industries’ Federation, former Chairman of The Innovations Fund – (Danish government agency funding research projects).
He is appointed Chamberlain in 2010 and Commander of the Order of Dannebrog in 2018. Bestowed with Verdienstkreuz 1. Klasse in Germany, Tianjin Haihe Friendship Award in 2017 and The People's Republic of China Friendship Award in 2018.
He is Honorary Doctor of Technology from LUT University, Lahti, Finland 2022.
Jørgen M. Clausen is a technology entrepreneur and has invested in multiple ventures. He is the inventor of Saltpower, a technology to make electricity from saltwater in an osmotic process.
Together with his wife Anette he founded the theme park Universe Science Park in 2005 on Als in Sønderjylland.
