Ensuring the stability of the electrical grid and a constant flow of electricity is a never ending task carried out by the system operators.
DA Energy presents Brad Bouillon from Californian ISO, who will guide us through the major balancing concerns and solutions employed in California.
With the green transition and increased share of uncontrollable renewable energy sources, short- and long-term imbalances in the power system are becoming ever more frequent. To ensure the stability of the electrical grid ancillary services are needed to react to imbalances and ensure stable frequency. Thus, there is transformation underway from traditional fixed frequency services delivered by big power plants to agile and small services enabling system stability through widespread distributed resources.
In this webinar Brad Bouillon Director of operations policy and analysis from the California systems operator CAISO, will present how they ensure system stability.
Brad will take us through the role of CAISO and explain the specific challenges that they face in operating the Californian power system. Furthermore, we will touch upon their innovative solutions and the outlook for system stability in California.
