Satellite data have revolutionized our understanding of the Arctic. Over decades, multiple generations of Earth Observing sensors have revealed Arctic systems and processes operating over length scales ranging from tens of microns to hundreds of kilometres and timescales from hours to multiple millennia. This talk will serve as an introduction to the fascinating world of Arctic remote sensing and showcase some of the groundbreaking work being done right here in Denmark. We will explore the diversity in the types of satellite measurements that are being made as well as how they are being used to address topics in multiple scientific and engineering disciplines. In the Arctic, satellite data shed light on some of the most remote places on the surface of the Earth. They are a critical tool in our ability to understand the current state of the Arctic and predict how it is likely to change in the future.
