T cells: A living drug against cancer - Özcan Met
Relateret medie
Developments within bioscience have boomed in recent years. New methods and techniques are constantly being created which revolutionize our knowledge of health and disease in humans. Are you interested in hearing more about developments in Bioscience? Are you speculating about what knowledge is going to make a revolutionary difference to human health and disease prevention? Join us on an expedition into the body for this year's "Exploring Bioscience" and get an exclusive insight into the ground-breaking advances in natural science. This is the fourth video out of six at the Exploring Bioscience 2022 event.
T cells: A living drug against cancer with Özcan Met
T cells from our immune system possess namely incredible cancer-fighting capabilities, but sometimes it benefits from a little boost. Imagine taking T cells from patients, enhancing them outside the body, and then infusing them back into patients where they can seek out and eliminate cancer cells. Interesting right? Meet Özcan Met, PhD, Associate Professor at DTU and Head of Cell Therapy Unit, at Exploring Bioscience 2022. Özcan is an expert within T cells and will, during his talk, give you insights on how T cells can be rewired or engineered to become a “living drug” weaponized against cancer.
Özcan Met is heading the Cell
Therapy Unit at the National Center for Cancer Immune Therapy since 2010,
directing all operational activities required for the manufacturing of cellular
products intended for use in clinical trials.
He
has more than 20 years of research experience in tailoring the immune system to
combat cancer and is leading a team at the cutting edge in the development of
novel cell-based technologies for patient treatment.
The program for the event ‘Exploring Bioscience 2022’
At Exploring Bioscience 2022, you will hear several speakers, all of whom will enlighten you on various topics. At Exploring Bioscience 2022, you will hear about, among other things, how intestinal bacteria affect people's mental and physical health. You will hear about how cancer recurrence can be detected early, several months before it can be seen on a scan.
This is just some of what you will hear more about at Exploring Bioscience 2022 – Does this sound interesting to you? Then listen to this video and hear some of the following speakers at Exploring Bioscience:
- ’Mikrobiomets univers åbner sig’ with Professor Oluf Borbye Pedersen
- ‘The molecular fingerprint of bladder cancer in blood’ with PhD Associate Professor Karin Birkenkamp-Demtröder
- ’Gå ind i hjernen og rygmarven, og se hvordan vi bevæger os’ with Professor viceinstitutleder Ole Kiehn
‘T cells: A living drug against cancer’ with Professor and leader of national center for cancer immunterapi, Özcan Met
- ’Sekventering af arvemassen hos os alle’ with Professor Mikkel Heide Schierup
- ’Hvordan lever man længere?’ with Author and MSc in Biotechnology Nicklas Brendborg
