The Danish-American astronomer Dr. Klaus Pontoppidan will, in this live webinar from California, share with the IDA Space audience his work as the former Chief Scientist for the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) and current Deputy Chief Scientist for Physics and Astronomy at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
Klaus Pontoppidan is renowned for his extensive work on the origins of exoplanetary atmospheres and his contributions to the development of space observatories operating at infrared wavelengths. He served as the James Webb Space Telescope Project Scientist at the Space Telescope Science Institute throughout its launch and commissioning.
Klaus has also played a significant role in outreach, including being the Principal Investigator for the first color images from the JWST.
