Why do we dredge and replace marine sediments?

A quick overview of harbours importance in transport of goods and the need and reasons for maintaining fairways

Over the past few years, the requirements for sampling and the scope of disposal permit applications have been continuously tightened, in step with the growing focus on environmental impacts and increased public attention. This has had major consequences for Danish ports’ ability to expand and has made the maintenance of navigation channels more difficult.

At this full-day event, we will, through a series of presentations and discussion sessions, focus on disposal (dumping of marine sediment) in both a Danish and an international context.

The event is organized in collaboration with Sweco’s senior specialist Claus Iversen from Sweco, Bert Visser from the Dutch Rijkswaterstaat, Danish Ports, and CEDA (Central Dredging Association).
